The Friends Talent Volunteer Group under POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks (Director Lee Dong-ryeol) organized an outdoor joint wedding ceremony for two multicultural couples on the 30th at the Baegun Greenland outdoor wedding hall in Geumho-dong, Gwangyang City.

The joint wedding ceremony for multicultural families has been supported since 2007 by the Friends Talent Volunteer Group of Gwangyang Steelworks in collaboration with the Gwangyang Gaya Lions Club, for multicultural couples living and raising families in Korea who have not been able to hold a wedding ceremony due to financial reasons.

At the joint wedding ceremony held that day, two couples who had not yet held their wedding ceremonies made beautiful marriage vows under the blessings of many people. The ceremony began with a sand ceremony symbolizing harmony by putting two different colored sands into one bottle, followed by the simultaneous entrance of the bride and groom, the marriage vows, and the reading of the marriage declaration, all conducted under the officiation of Director Lee Dong-ryeol of Gwangyang Steelworks.

During the ceremony, congratulatory performances by the Gwangyang Steelworks Elementary School orchestra and dance club, as well as students from the Korea Creative Arts High School, added to the joyful atmosphere.

Director Lee Dong-ryeol of Gwangyang Steelworks said, “Love is about giving, and marriage is about practicing that love,” and added, “I hope the two couples will become happy couples who practice beautiful love.”

One bride who completed the wedding said, “I often felt envious when I saw couples wearing beautiful wedding dresses and having their ceremonies, but thanks to the wedding prepared by the Friends Talent Volunteer Group, I was able to have a happy time,” and added, “We will strive to be a couple who cherish and love each other.”

The Friends Volunteer Group of Gwangyang Steelworks has supported joint wedding ceremonies for 70 multicultural families over the past 18 years and plans to continue various activities to help multicultural families in Gwangyang settle stably in the community.

Meanwhile, the Friends Talent Volunteer Group is composed of POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks employees and their families, and fully supports the costs of joint wedding ceremonies such as outdoor wedding hall installation, rental of formal wear, and wedding makeup, based on the 'POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation' fund created from the sponsorship of group members and 1% of POSCO employees' salaries.
