Triple Star chef Kang Seung-won, who rose to stardom by appearing on the Netflix variety show 'Black and White Chef: Cooking Class War,' has been embroiled in a 'private life controversy,' with allegations emerging that he secretly embezzled restaurant funds from his ex-wife in the past.
On the 30th, former entertainment reporter and YouTuber Lee Jin-ho uploaded a video titled 'Why the ex-wife I supported is furious? The full story of Triple Star's past exposure' on his YouTube channel. In the released video, Lee Jin-ho cited the words of ex-wife A, explaining that the relationship between Chef Kang and A broke down due to two major incidents: one was infidelity, and the other was embezzlement of funds.
According to Lee Jin-ho, Chef Kang and A met in 2014 but broke up briefly in 2018, spending about two years apart. During the breakup, Chef Kang dated another woman, B, for over four months, and even after reuniting with A in 2020, he continued his relationship with B before eventually ending it late. A married Chef Kang in May 2022. It was reported that she was completely unaware of Chef Kang's relationship with B before marriage and only found out later after coming into contact with B.

A claimed that she provided significant financial support to Chef Kang before and after their marriage. She stated that she spent over 400 million won just to meet him and solely arranged 3.7 billion won as the deposit for their newlywed home.
Money from A also went into the restaurant Treed, operated by Chef Kang. She and her parents-in-law each invested 150 million won in Treed, but as the restaurant continued to run at a loss, Chef Kang was caught secretly sending some of the restaurant funds to his parents without A's knowledge. Lee Jin-ho explained, "This incident deepened the couple's conflicts and completely broke their trust. Ultimately, they chose the path of divorce."
Earlier, a letter in the form of an apology from Chef Kang to A was reported by the entertainment media 'Dispatch' on the 30th, sparking controversy. The letter contained Chef Kang's admission and apology for his infidelity and womanizing.
Notably, it included shocking content such as "I secretly watched a female guest dressed provocatively sitting alone through CCTV footage in a darkened warehouse," "I am trash. I liked women and harbored filthy greed, and I did things I should never have done to someone who gave me immense love," and "I demanded she sleep with another man."
Amid ongoing controversy, Chef Kang has closed the comment section on his social media accounts and has yet to make any separate statements regarding the issue.
