Namyangju City conducted a "Detailed Training on Facilities for the Disabled" for public housing designers of the 3rd phase of Wangsuk and Yangjeong New Towns at the Dasan Administrative Welfare Center on the 24th and 28th. Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) announced on the 30th that it conducted a 'Detailed Training on Facilities for the Disabled' for public housing designers of the 3rd phase of the Wangsuk and Yangjeong New Towns at the Dasan Administrative Welfare Center on the 24th and 28th.
This training was organized by the Namyangju Disabled Convenience Promotion Technology Support Center (Director Choi Man-seok), and Team Leader Lee Mi-seon, who is in charge of actual design consultations, served as the instructor to provide education on the installation standards for facilities for the disabled.
The training was planned to faithfully reflect the installation standards for convenience facilities from the design stage in accordance with the 'Act on Guarantee of Convenience for the Disabled, the Elderly, Pregnant Women, etc.' It included detailed standards for entrances, corridors, restrooms, auxiliary facilities, as well as information on disabled-only parking spaces and guidance facilities for the visually and hearing impaired.
A designer who participated in the training said, “It was a valuable time to learn about cases of facilities for the disabled that are easy to overlook during the design process.”
Kim Il-nyeo, Director of the Disabled Welfare Division, stated, “By increasing understanding of facilities for the disabled from the design stage, we expect smoother architectural consultations in the future,” and added, “We will continue efforts through ongoing training and consultations to ensure that the Wangsuk and Yangjeong 3rd phase New Towns become cities that all citizens, including the disabled, can use conveniently.”
