Japan's 'Summer Style Award' 2nd Place
"Getting in Shape Before Wedding... For the Wedding Dress"
"Meals Focused on Vegetables, Protein, and Brown Rice"
A Japanese nail artist in her 50s has attracted attention by placing second in a bikini model competition.
Recently, the Japanese media outlet Fitness Love reported that Sumiko Yamagishi (54) won the runner-up position in the Grand Generation class for women aged 50 and over at the 'Summer Style Award' held in Kuki City, Saitama Prefecture. It is known that Yamagishi decided to take care of her body starting five years ago, just before her wedding. She said, "I have a body type that makes losing weight somewhat difficult, but I wanted to look beautiful in my wedding dress, so I started dieting," adding, "After successfully losing 4 kg for the first time, I challenged myself with a body contest to prevent rebound."
During the wedding preparation period, Yamagishi maintained a diet focused on chicken breast and vegetables. She then lost an additional 6 kg, achieving a total weight loss of 10 kg. She explained, "At that time, I was very thin, but after starting serious training, my body shape noticeably changed," and "Symptoms such as shoulder stiffness and fatigue in my legs also improved."
Furthermore, Yamagishi said, "I like traveling, food, and alcohol," and added, "On weekdays, I eat mainly vegetables, protein, and brown rice." She continued, "On weekends, I enjoy foods I want to eat, like hamburgers and desserts. Participating in competitions motivates me to lose weight and train, so I can restrain myself even in the off-season." She, who frequently visits beach resorts, expressed her goal by saying, "I want to wear a bikini for life," and "I will continue training."
Meanwhile, the Summer Style Award is an official competition conducted in cooperation with the Japan Bodybuilding & Fitness Federation, where doping tests are carried out.
