The '2024 Asia Economy Women Leaders Forum,' held on the 30th at Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, Seoul, was a festival where Power K-Women from various sectors came together. This year, based on indicators such as 'innovation, creativity, pioneering, inclusion, dedication, and work-family balance achievements,' 37 new Power K-Women were born.
At the event, Ra Sun-young, Chairperson of the Korean Cancer Association, said, "I wrote 'No pain, no gain' in front of my laboratory, but I have come this far feeling fun rather than pain," adding, "Fun gave me another kind of strength." She explained that rather than aiming to become a chairperson or professor, she was able to build her current career by doing things she enjoyed. Chairperson Ra expressed her thoughts, saying, "The women gathered here today must have become leaders through their own processes and efforts. I hope to learn a lot from these leaders and meet them every year."
‘Doctor Boxer’ Seo Ryeo-kyung, a professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Soonchunhyang University, also shone at the event. She is challenging the world boxing championship while providing neonatal care at Soonchunhyang University Cheonan Hospital. Professor Seo said, "I plan to keep challenging until I achieve my goal," and added, "I will participate in the Asia title match held in Okcheon, Chungbuk, on the 30th of next month." She also expressed hope that many people would take an interest in boxing, which is a less popular sport in Korea.
Marking its 13th year, the '2024 Asia Economy Women Leaders Forum' saw the emergence of 37 new 'Power K-Women.' Power K-Women refer to women leaders who challenge boundaries and create new values across various fields. Starting with 40 women in 2022, 41 were selected last year, and 37 Power K-Women were chosen this year.
