Securing 30 Billion Won in National and Provincial Funds

The area around Dangjin Information High School in Chaewon-dong, Dangjin-si, Chungnam, which suffered significant flooding damage due to heavy rainfall this summer, has been selected as a '2024 Priority Sewerage Maintenance Area' by the Ministry of Environment. Through the sewerage maintenance project, the risk of urban flooding in this area is expected to be resolved.
Dangjin-si announced that it completed its application for the '2024 Priority Sewerage Maintenance Area' to the Ministry of Environment last August, and after on-site inspections and evaluation committee reviews conducted by the ministry, it was finally selected as a priority management area on the 30th.
A total of 30 regions applied for the 2024 Priority Sewerage Maintenance Area designation, and 16 were selected. In Chungnam, Dangjin-si was the only area chosen.
Chaewon-dong is the second priority sewerage maintenance area in Dangjin-si, following Eumnae-dong, which was designated in 2023.
The city plans to invest a total project cost of 41.1 billion KRW, including 30 billion KRW in national and provincial funds secured through the designation, to improve 2.56 kilometers of stormwater pipelines and establish two new drainage pump stations to prevent loss of life and property damage for citizens during heavy rainfall.
A city official stated, "As we have put a lot of effort into being designated as a priority sewerage maintenance area, we will do our utmost to alleviate concerns about flood damage and protect the lives of citizens from disasters through the smooth implementation of the project."
