On the 29th, amid intense legal battles between Yonsei University and examinees over the '2025 Yonsei University Early Admission Essay Exam Question Leak,' heated debates are also unfolding online.
Earlier, on the 12th, during the Yonsei University early admission natural sciences essay exam at one test site, an incident occurred where the exam papers were distributed about an hour before the exam started due to a supervisor's mistake and then collected. Subsequently, online suspicions arose that the questions were leaked during the collection process and that practice answer photos were shared.
Online opinions are divided between those who say "a retest should be held because fairness was compromised" and those who argue "students who took the exam according to the rules would be harmed."
Supporters of the retest argue that "a retest is natural because the fairness of the exam was compromised due to Yonsei University's careless management and supervision." They pointed out, "It is unfair to have seen the questions in advance," "There was time before the exam started to think about and organize the questions," and "There was enough time to ask other friends or use ChatGPT." Additionally, opinions followed that "If this incident is swept under the rug, it will set a precedent that unfair exams can proceed without consequences."
On the other hand, those opposing the retest claim that "students who took the exam according to the rules would be harmed." They argued, "What about the students who sincerely took the exam and earned passing scores?" "Do you know how big a burden it is to take a retest with the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) just around the corner?" "There are other exam schedules, and if a retest is held, many will be unable to attend, causing great confusion." There were also responses such as "The exam papers were never directly leaked," "There is only circumstantial evidence, no objective proof," and "Even if they saw the questions in advance, it would have been for at most about three minutes."
Meanwhile, on the 29th, the first hearing for a provisional injunction filed by some examinees against Yonsei University regarding the 'Yonsei University Early Admission Essay Question Leak Suspicion' was held. The court plans to review additional materials from both sides and deliver a decision on the injunction application before the 15th of next month.
