Netizens Flood Bulletin Boards with Protest Posts
Earlier Report of '40 No-Shows' Sparks Growing Controversy
The website of Jeongseon County Office is being flooded with protest posts from netizens after allegations surfaced that 40 government officials made a group reservation at a barbecue restaurant in Yeouido, Seoul, and then committed a 'no-show,' sparking controversy.
From the 29th to the 30th, the bulletin board on Jeongseon County Office's website has been filled with posts expressing dissatisfaction over the so-called 'no-show controversy.' Netizens have posted sharp criticisms such as "Government officials who no-show, please get a grip," "Are you still abusing power?" "Who is the responsible official in charge?" "I came here angry after watching the broadcast," and "No-show county office, unbelievable."
Previously, JTBC's 'Incident Manager' introduced the story of restaurant owner Mr. A, who suffered damages after preparing for a group reservation of 40 government officials that ended in a no-show. Mr. A claimed that on the 8th, he received a group reservation for 40 people from Jeongseon County Office, but the guests who made the reservation did not show up on the day.

According to Mr. A, when he called the reserver on the day to confirm, they suddenly said, "I don't remember." When Mr. A played the recorded phone conversation from the time of the reservation, the reserver finally apologized, saying, "Why did I confirm this like this?"
Mr. A demanded compensation, saying, "This is not something that can be resolved with just an apology. I lost a day's business," but the reserver introduced themselves as an 'outsourcing company employee' and said, "The county officials were conducting a two-day workshop in Seoul and entrusted our company with scheduling and restaurant reservations. This is not a situation for compensation."
Later, Mr. A inquired about the matter with Jeongseon County Office, but the county office responded, "As a local government, it is difficult to provide compensation." Ultimately, the positions of both sides regarding compensation did not converge, and Mr. A posted the story on the self-employed community 'Because It Hurts, I Am a Boss' out of frustration.
Mr. A told the media, "Due to the nature of Yeouido, there was no deposit required and there had been no problems until now. This is the first no-show," and added, "What angers me the most is that they made a reservation, then lied saying 'I didn't make a reservation, I don't remember,' and only apologized after I played the recorded call."
