3rd Geumgang Jangsa, 22nd Personal Bull Trophy... New Record for Most Wins by an Active Competitor
No Beom-su (26), a player belonging to the Ulsan Ulju-gun Office Haetteumi Ssireum Team, was crowned Geumgang Champion at the ‘Withus Pharmaceutical 2024 Folk Ssireum Ansan Kim Hong-do Jangsa Ssireum Tournament’ held on the 29th at Wadong Gymnasium in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province.
Ulsan Ulju-gun Office Haetteumi Ssireum Team player No Beom-su is celebrating his victory as the Geumgang Champion at the Ansan Kim Hong-do Jangsa Ssireum Tournament.
On that day, No Beom-su won 3-1 against Kim Tae-ha (Suwon Special City Office) in the best-of-five final match for the Geumgang Champion (under 90kg), raising his 22nd personal trophy (3 times Geumgang Champion, 19 times Taebaek Champion).
No Beom-su defeated Hong Jun-ho (Jeungpyeong County Office) 2-0 in the round of 16 and Kim Ki-su (Suwon Special City Office) 2-1 in the quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals. In the semifinals, he won 2-0 against Oh Seong-ho (Yangpyeong County Office) to reach the championship match.
His opponent in the championship match was Kim Tae-ha (Suwon Special City Office), whom he had faced in the final of the Boeun Jangsa Ssireum Tournament last July.
In the first round, No Beom-su scored first with a successful ‘front knee strike,’ and in the second round, he took another point with a ‘jabchae-gi,’ making the score 2-0.
In the third round, Kim Tae-ha scored a point by throwing No Beom-su down with a ‘left deotgeori,’ but in the fourth round, No Beom-su succeeded with a ‘bitjang-geori,’ finishing the match with a final score of 3-1.
No Beom-su of the Ulju-gun Office Haetteumi Ssireum Team boasts outstanding skills, earning the nickname ‘Nottojang (No Beom-su is champion again).’ He was a quadruple crown winner last season and has achieved a triple crown this year. Especially through this tournament victory, he recorded his 22nd personal win, setting a new record for the most championships among active folk ssireum players.
