Gwangyang Economic Zone Authority Attracts Investment in 'AI and Data Industry' in Singapore

Over 80 Participants Including Local Investors Attend the 'Han-Sing Seminar'

The Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority (Commissioner Gu Chung-gon, hereinafter Gwangyang Economic Authority) announced on the 29th that it is attending the 'Korea-Singapore Investment Cooperation Seminar' held in Singapore for five days until November 1st, promoting the AI and data industries and regional development potential of the Gwangyang Bay Area and conducting investment attraction activities.


This seminar was held under the theme of 'Building the Gwangyang Bay Area AI and Data Industry Ecosystem' with the participation of more than 80 local investors and related institution officials.

The Gwangyang Economic Authority introduced five key development areas in Jeonnam: ▲renewable energy ▲cloud data centers ▲Gwangyang Port automated terminals ▲smart green industrial complexes ▲local government startup nurturing programs.


During individual investor meetings held after the seminar, discussions were held with Singaporean ICT companies about the specific investment environment, drawing particularly high interest in the data center industry.


The Singapore ICT industry is forming an ecosystem for advanced technology and solution development, with global tech companies (Google, Facebook), Southeast Asian platform companies (Lazada, Grab), and cloud technology companies (ReCloud, Google Cloud) active, and hosting more than 4,000 tech startups.


A representative of the Gwangyang Economic Authority said, “With the rapid increase in AI demand, investment in the data center sector is expected to become active,” adding, “We will strengthen synergy with local manufacturing through revitalizing the data industry in the Gwangyang Bay Area.”
