Gyeongnam Office of Education Inspects School Meal Ingredient Suppliers... 45 Companies Caught

The Gyeongnam Office of Education inspected 287 out of approximately 500 school meal ingredient suppliers in the province and found violations in 45 companies.


The Office of Education announced that it inspected 181 companies in the first half and 106 companies in the second half of the year to verify the hygienic operation of school meal suppliers, ensure the safety of ingredients, and establish a sound distribution order.


This year's inspections were conducted jointly by the Office of Education, education support offices, schools, Gyeongsangnam-do and city/county local governments, and related agencies such as the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service.

According to the Office of Education, the main violations included ▲violations of the Food Sanitation Act and Livestock Act ▲non-operation of business sites ▲vehicle delivery consignment and subcontracting ▲failure to report changes, among others.


The Office of Education and related agencies plan to continue guidance and inspections regarding disguised operations, contract breaches, and violations of relevant laws.


Yang Mi, Director of the Education Welfare Division, said, “We will do our best within the Office of Education to provide higher quality school meals so that children can grow up healthy.”
