"Gathering Political Ronin to Pretend Won't Last Long"
Hong Joon-pyo, Mayor of Daegu, on the 29th directed harsh criticism at Han Dong-hoon, leader of the People Power Party, saying, "If you drift like oil on water, you will be immediately ousted. That is politics."
Mayor Hong said this through his Facebook on the same day, stating, "Even if political ronin gather and pretend, it does not last long."

He referred to Park Cheol-eon, a special advisor who was called the 'Crown Prince' during the 6th Republic era and later retired from politics, saying, "Special Advisor Park Cheol-eon once led the Wolgyesuhoe and had a moment of rising power." He added, "However, he began to rapidly decline after failing to receive the choice of former President Roh Tae-woo, and the Wolgyesuhoe disappeared, eventually leading to his political ousting."
Mayor Hong pointed out, "A great person mistook the aura of President Roh as their own." He continued, "Former President Kim Young-sam (YS), who rose by his own power, continued to succeed afterward, but the power of Special Advisor Park Cheol-eon, who rose with the backing of power, was nothing but a sandcastle." He concluded by emphasizing, "Harmonize with the party."
Earlier, Mayor Hong also criticized Leader Han the previous day, saying, "He is playing a futile solo 'presidential game'." Through Facebook, he said, "When the ruling party leadership pushes policies, they gather opinions within the party, coordinate confidentially with the Presidential Office, and then announce to the public." He criticized, "Pursuing policies in a way that tramples on presidential authority and forces submission, as the current leadership does, is reckless 'attention-seeking politics.'"
He added, "It is nothing but a reckless childish game that puts the entire ruling party in crisis just to make oneself stand out," emphasizing, "This is an emergency time when one must think of the party before oneself, and the country before the party."
