November Jinju Citizen Sports Festival and Various Sports Events Held
Jinju City in Gyeongnam is actively promoting sports development projects to provide citizens with a wider variety of sports events.
The cultural sports festival linked to the October festival has been successfully held, and various sports events will be held in succession, starting with participation in the Gyeongsangnam-do Sports for All Grand Festival on November 1, the Jinju Mayor's Cup Volleyball Tournament on the 2nd, and the Jinju Citizens Sports Festival on the 9th.
The city plans to continue creating a healthy and vibrant Jinju through the activation of sports exchanges and attracting various sports competitions.
The 2024 National Sports Festival will be held from October 11 to 17, and the National Para Games will take place from October 25 to 30, starting in the main host city of Gimhae. The events hosted by Jinju include four sports in the National Sports Festival: modern pentathlon, volleyball, soft tennis, and archery, as well as four sports in the National Para Games: lawn bowls, weightlifting, rowing, and fencing.
At this festival, many crowds gathered to watch the matches of medalists such as Kim Woo-jin and Lim Si-hyun, who achieved triple gold in archery at the Paris Olympics, archery gold medalists Kim Je-deok, Nam Soo-hyun, Lee Woo-seok, Jeon Hoon-young, and Seong Seung-min, the first Asian female modern pentathlon Olympic medalist, demonstrating the event's popularity.
In particular, a successful cultural sports festival is being held by providing various attractions such as the October Lantern Festival, Gaecheon Arts Festival, and Korea Drama Festival to athletes and spectators gathered from all over the country.
The 35th Gyeongsangnam-do Sports for All Grand Festival will be held in Tongyeong City from November 1 to 3 for three days at venues including Tongyeong Public Stadium, with 888 Jinju athletes participating in 31 sports.
Meanwhile, the opening ceremony of the 35th Gyeongsangnam-do Sports for All Grand Festival will be held on November 1 at 4 p.m. at Tongyeong Public Stadium.
The 5th Jinju Mayor's Cup Volleyball Tournament, hosted by Jinju City and organized by the Jinju City Volleyball Association, will be held on November 2 at the Jinju Indoor Gymnasium and Jinju Sports for All Gymnasium.
This tournament was organized to expand the base of volleyball and promote harmony among club members, with about 400 participants from 20 teams, including 12 men's teams and 8 women's teams, competing.
In addition to the volleyball tournament, Jinju City plans to hold market-sponsored sports competitions in various sports such as the Jinju Mayor's Cup Bowling Tournament, Badminton Tournament, and National Park Golf Tournament.
The 31st Jinju Citizens Sports Festival, hosted and organized by the Jinju Sports Council, will be held on November 9 at the Jinju Sports Park area.
This event will be held as a competition between 16 eup/myeon districts and 14 dong districts, featuring various games and exciting events such as Hangung, air bounce ssireum, team tug-of-war, rubber shoe catching, ad balloon games, team jump rope, and relay races, creating a meaningful festival where about 3,000 citizens can enjoy and participate together.
