"Kim Geon-hee's Blame Causes Won Hee-ryong's Failed Jongno Candidacy"
"Park Min-sik, Kim Oh-jin, Kim Eun-hye Participated in Meeting at the Time"
Former Seowon University Distinguished Professor Shin Yong-han revealed the background behind his exposure of the so-called 'Myeong Taegyun Report,' stating, "Recently, when the Myeong Taegyun case came up, I looked for old materials and discovered a report from the Mirae Hanguk (Future Korea) Research Institute." This report contained an unpublished public opinion poll from March 8, 2022, one day before the 20th presidential election, conducted by the Mirae Hanguk Research Institute, which analyzed that then-People Power Party presidential candidate Yoon Seok-yeol was leading Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung by 9.1 percentage points (p).
Shin, who served as the head of policy support at Yoon Seok-yeol's 2022 presidential campaign, appeared on MBC Radio's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus' on the 29th and disclosed that they held meetings based on the unpublished public opinion poll report from the Mirae Hanguk Research Institute, where Myeong Taegyun worked, ahead of the presidential election. Myeong is a key figure in the allegations of Kim Geon-hee's interference in candidate nominations.
Regarding the campaign situation when the poll data was shared, Shin described it as "an emergency." He explained, "On the surface, the paper showed a 9.1%p lead, but there was something important in it." He added, "Normally, things were going smoothly, but in the early voting, Lee Jae-myung received a significantly high number of votes, and on the day of the election, voter turnout dropped, which seemed to trigger a serious emergency."
However, when asked by the host whether he had seen the Mirae Hanguk Research Institute report before, he replied, "I do not remember." Shin said, "In meetings, the focus was on practical matters like 'what percentage difference is there' or 'which region suddenly fell behind,' so I don't remember the details clearly."
Shin also claimed that while working at the campaign, there were rumors within the camp that former Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Won Hee-ryong's bid for the Seoul Jongno by-election was blocked due to opposition from Kim Geon-hee. The March 9, 2022 Jongno by-election was held alongside the 20th presidential election. Initially, Won had discussed running in Jongno with President Yoon Seok-yeol, who was also positive about it. However, since Won's spouse did not serve as Kim's aide, Kim became displeased, and Won's nomination was ultimately canceled.
He said, "If you look it up, there is news that (Kim) requested someone to serve as her aide," adding, "There were rumors that (Won’s spouse) either refused or did not carry out the request, which upset (Kim)."
Regarding former People Power Party Supreme Council member Jang Ye-chan, who served as head of the youth campaign headquarters and commented that Shin was "not an important figure," Shin dismissed it as "a typical strategy to attack and discredit the messenger."
He explained, "What Jang Ye-chan, the youth campaign head, meant was that I did not attend headquarters-level meetings, but the meetings I attended were those held by working-level officials." He added, "I held daily meetings with people like former Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Park Min-sik, Kim Oh-jin, First Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (former Presidential Office management secretary), and Kim Eun-hye, a People Power Party lawmaker."
