Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced on the 29th that it will operate the "2024 Current Year Local Tax Delinquency Intensive Collection Period" from November to the end of December this year to focus on collecting local tax arrears in 2024.
The district aims to collect 97% of the total local tax amount levied in the current year by the end of this year and will strengthen efforts to collect delinquent taxes. During this period, measures include ▲seizure of assets held by delinquent taxpayers such as real estate, automobiles, and financial claims ▲impoundment of delinquent vehicles ▲for high-amount delinquents with total arrears exceeding 10 million KRW, on-site visits will be conducted to assess the possibility of collection and to identify any hidden assets.
In addition to collection activities, a "Smartphone Delinquency Notification Service" will be implemented to notify delinquent taxpayers who have difficulty confirming their delinquency due to living conditions or who have limited payment methods via mobile platforms such as KakaoTalk.
The "Smartphone Delinquency Notification Service" is linked with ETAX (Seoul City Internet Tax Payment System) to enable immediate payment, electronic delivery, and automatic payment application upon receipt of the notification. This service is expected to assist taxpayers who intend to pay but are delayed due to circumstances.
Mayor Kim Mi-kyung stated, "During the intensive collection period, strong delinquency measures and administrative sanctions will be enforced, so we urge prompt payment of delinquent taxes," and added, "We will strive to realize tax justice through strong delinquency measures against high-amount delinquents."
