Mapo-gu Hosts 'Youth Future Education Festival'

November 2 Hongdae Red Road R4~R6 Fair with Diverse Programs Including Performances and Experiences
Featuring the 2nd The Book Day to Promote Communication and Sharing Culture Through Books and an Exhibition of Hangang Authors

Mapo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Gang-su) will hold the ‘Future Education Festival,’ planned and participated in directly by teenagers, on November 2nd at Hongdae Red Road.


The festival will take place from 2 PM to 9 PM along the R4~R6 sections of Hongdae Red Road, featuring various youth cultural events and career-related experience programs.


At Red Road R4, an education company and university major fair will be held to provide teenagers with useful information about further education and learning.


Famous local education companies will participate in the education company fair, offering customized learning consultations, career and college admission counseling, and vocational aptitude tests.


At the university major fair, students from major domestic universities such as Seoul National University and Yonsei University will operate major booths to provide direct consultations related to their majors.


At the major consultation booths, teenagers can obtain career information on various majors including pre-med, pharmacy, as well as smart security and game engineering, allowing them to receive specific advice on their areas of interest.


Various programs enjoyable for teenagers will be held in the Red Road R5~R6 sections.


At Red Road R5, the ‘2nd The Book Day’ will be held simultaneously. Books donated by residents will be sold at low prices, and all proceeds will be donated to the Mapo Welfare Foundation to support underprivileged groups.

Additionally, several libraries including Mapo Central Library will participate in The Book Day, operating various reading experience programs that offer teenagers experiences with the latest technologies such as AI illustration and 3D robot coding. A large igloo dome tent will also be on display.


The dome tent will serve as a shelter where citizens can read books indoors while enjoying the festival in cold weather, and it will also provide a special book exhibition space where visitors can view the literary world of author Han Kang, a Nobel Prize in Literature laureate, at a glance.


A communication session with Dr. Lee Myung-hyun, a famous author and astronomer, will also be prepared to stimulate teenagers’ scientific curiosity.


From 3:30 PM, a program titled ‘You Are Invited to Gang-su Cafe’ will be held. This talk show features Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, as the cafe owner, where teenagers can ‘rent’ the mayor to have an honest conversation about his life philosophy and youth policies in Mapo-gu.


At 6 PM, the official opening ceremony of the Future Education Festival will take place. A congratulatory video featuring schools in Mapo-gu will be screened, and an award ceremony for contributors to the promotion of reading culture will be held.


Following this, a fashion show by students of Seoul Design High School and an Ogomu performance by students of Jungdong Elementary School will be held, followed by a youth group band competition.


Six bands that passed the preliminary screening will compete in a tournament format, with the grand prize team receiving 5 million KRW, the excellence team 3 million KRW, the encouragement team 1 million KRW, and other teams receiving participation prizes of 500,000 KRW.


Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “The Future Education Festival is a festival where teenagers take center stage to participate and enjoy,” adding, “Mapo-gu will continue to spare no support so that teenagers can realize their dreams.”
