Chairperson Isukja, Jamsugyo Ttubakttubak Festival Fostering New Tourism Resource in Seoul
Lee Suk-ja, Chairperson of the Operations Committee of the Seoul Metropolitan Council (People Power Party·Seocho 2), attended the closing ceremony of the ‘2024 Jamsugyo Ttubak Ttubak Festival’ held at Jamsugyo on the 27th, engaging with citizens and encouraging the organizers.
The ‘Car-Free Jamsugyo Ttubak Ttubak Festival,’ which established itself as a representative K-festival in Korea with about 2 million domestic and international tourists visiting last year, achieved great success again this year with more than 100,000 citizens participating on average at each event held every Sunday from May to October.
Especially this year, the festival space was expanded from the southern end of Jamsugyo at Banpo Hangang Park to the northern end of Jamsugyo and the Banpo waterfront stage, introducing not only permanent programs covering shopping, food, and rest but also special experience programs such as guerrilla concerts and dance challenges, as well as a new citizen star audition program called ‘2024 Hangang Rising Star.’
The ‘Jamsugyo Ttubak Ttubak Festival,’ which heated up the Jamsugyo area every week with diverse programs, concluded on the 27th with the closing ceremony attended by Chairperson Lee Suk-ja, Director Joo Yong-tae of the Future Hangang Headquarters, and others, ending with performances by four teams of ‘Hangang Ambassadors’ produced through the ‘Hangang Rising Star’ program.
According to a citizen satisfaction survey, the intention to revisit the ‘Jamsugyo Ttubak Ttubak Festival’ increased from 91% last year to 98.9% this year, indicating high satisfaction among citizens with the festival.
In her congratulatory speech, Chairperson Lee Suk-ja stated, “We confirmed that citizens as well as domestic and international tourists enjoy special experiences at Jamsugyo, which is scheduled for full pedestrianization in 2026,” and added, “Next year, we will return with even richer event programs and strive to make it a new tourism resource for Seoul.”
