Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, visited a household supporting a centenarian on the afternoon of October 28th to commemorate the Month of Filial Piety, delivering encouragement gifts along with words of support.
The household visited by Mayor Park Gang-su on this day was the home of Jeong Bong-jae, who is caring for his 100-year-old mother.
In accordance with the Seoul Metropolitan Government Mapo District Ordinance on Encouragement and Support of Filial Piety, Mayor Park presented Jeong Bong-jae, who is leading by example in practicing filial piety, with encouragement gifts worth 200,000 won.
Along with this, he delivered a Cheongryeojang, a cane symbolizing health and longevity, received from the Seoul Metropolitan Government, to the elder.
Mayor Park Gang-su said, “I sincerely express my respect to Mr. Jeong Bong-jae, who is devotedly caring for his 100-year-old parent,” and added, “Mapo District will do its utmost to widely promote the spirit of respect for the elderly and filial piety, which is essential in this aging era.”
Mapo District plans for each neighborhood chief to deliver encouragement gifts to households caring for elders aged 100 and above within the district.
