Pledge Ceremony for Safe Village Creation with Jinjeop Residents' Autonomy Committee
Namyangju City held a pledge ceremony for creating a life-respecting safe village with the Jinjeop Resident Autonomy Committee at the Jinjeop-eup Resident Autonomy Center on the 25th, followed by a commemorative photo. Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) announced on the 28th that on the 25th, a pledge ceremony was held at the Jinjeop-eup Resident Autonomy Center with the Jinjeop Resident Autonomy Committee to create a Life-Respecting Safe Village.
The Life-Respecting Safe Village is an integrated suicide prevention project that actively utilizes community resources and networks at the eup, myeon, and dong levels. This project aims to contribute to reducing suicide in the community and strengthening the suicide prevention safety net through cooperation among six key areas: △healthcare △education △welfare △distribution and sales △community △public services.
The city plans to install Life-Respecting Safe Village plaques with QR codes at places frequently visited by residents, such as village halls, hospitals, and convenience stores. The QR codes on the plaques provide information on Life Keeper education for identifying high-risk groups, mental health counseling services, and community support information.
Through this, by establishing a smart helpline system that enables community members to identify and connect neighbors in crisis, the city aims to spread a culture of life respect with the message “We are together with warm neighbors” and practice mutual care within the community.
The city, together with the Jinjeop-eup Resident Autonomy Association, plans to carry out various suicide prevention and life-respecting cultural activities, including △identification and linkage of high-risk groups △suicide prevention awareness campaigns △Life Keeper education △blocking access to suicide risk means.
Jung Tae-sik, Director of Namyangju Public Health Center, said, “Starting with Jinjeop-eup, we plan to gradually expand the Life-Respecting Safe Village. Through mutual care and support of grassroots community organizations, we will create an atmosphere of life respect and do our best to make Namyangju a warm city.”
Yoon Kyung-bae, Director of Jinjeop Onam Administrative Welfare Center, stated, “We are honored to participate in creating the Life-Respecting Safe Village and will strive to establish Jinjeop-eup as a leading life-respecting village.”
Meanwhile, if you need professional help for difficult issues such as depression, you can receive counseling at the Namyangju Mental Health Welfare Center.
