Namyangju City held the '2024 Second Half Youth Policy Committee' at the Jeong Yak-yong Library on the 25th. Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) announced on the 28th that it held the ‘2024 Second Half Youth Policy Committee’ at the Jeong Yak-yong Library on the 25th.
This meeting was the final regular meeting of the 3rd Youth Policy Committee (hereafter the Committee), reporting on the achievements and current status of this year’s youth policies (projects), gathering opinions on them, and providing advice on the direction of youth policy projects for 2025.
Co-chairman Mayor Joo Gwang-deok said, “Since the Youth Policy Division was established in January last year, we have achieved many accomplishments as we approach the two-year mark,” adding, “I believe this is thanks to the interest and support of the City Council, as well as the active cooperation and participation of various institutions and youth committee members.”
Seo Dong-hyun, (Youth) Co-chairman, shared his thoughts, saying, “Through activities such as the 3rd Youth Policy Committee, I realized that Namyangju youth want to stay in the region for jobs, housing, and cultural life,” and added, “As a youth activist, I will continue to actively engage in various ways to ensure that the needs of young people are reflected.”
This year, the city listened to and incorporated diverse opinions across all youth policies, including △discovering customized youth policies and new non-budget projects △expanding channels for policy participation △strengthening information delivery through diversifying communication channels, which received great responses from young people.
In particular, the city achieved remarkable results through proactive youth policy initiatives, such as winning the ‘Gyeonggi-do Youth Space Grand Prize’ and securing national and provincial funding through active public contest projects.
Meanwhile, the city’s Youth Policy Committee is an organization that deliberates and coordinates major matters related to youth policies, and from November, it plans to newly form and operate the ‘4th’ committee.
