Suncheonman Reed Festival Draws 24,000 Visitors, a Huge Success

'Filled with Birdsong and Reed Sounds' Region's Largest Festival Reputation
Popular Events Including Gian84's Suggested Jjangttungeo Marathon
"Planning to Establish as a Permanent Program... A New Milestone for the Ecological Festival"

Jeonnam Suncheon City (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) announced on the 28th that 24,000 people visited the '25th Suncheonman Reed Festival' held from the 26th to 27th at the Suncheonman Wetland area, continuing its reputation as the region's largest festival.

This year's festival, themed 'See Birds, See Reeds, See Suncheon,' boldly omitted the opening ceremony and achieved great success by operating programs that encouraged voluntary public participation, considering the characteristics of the Suncheonman space.

In particular, this year's event increased visitors' choices by linking the Ramsar Road Walking Contest and Jazz Festa. The Jjanggttungeo Marathon proposed by webtoon artist Kian84 and Suncheonman birdwatching attracted participants of all ages, becoming one of the best programs that captivated visitors. Programs such as the 'Mujin Boat Tour,' 'Backpacker's Night,' and 'Reed Forest Starlight Date,' held at dawn and night with prior reservations, had over 60% of participants from other regions, contributing to the revitalization of the local economy through a one-night, two-day stay program.

Exhibitions on the conservation history of Suncheonman using natural materials from Suncheonman, along with various experience and sales booths, were also operated. Classical music and eco-friendly busking performances held in the golden reed forest harmonized to offer visitors an unforgettable October at Suncheonman.

Considering that the season for Suncheonman travel begins even after the festival ends, the city plans to keep the eco-friendly reed festival stage, popular as a photo zone, the black-crowned crane wish tunnel hanji lanterns, wish writing, and Suncheonman conservation history exhibits intact.

A city official stated, "The Suncheonman Reed Festival is not a one-time event but is being planned as a permanent program," adding, "We will make it an opportunity to set a new milestone for the ecological festival that Suncheonman should pursue."

Meanwhile, the golden reed flowers will reach their peak until December, and winter migratory birds such as the black-crowned crane and yellow-billed spoonbill are arriving one after another, so visitor foot traffic is expected to continue even after the reed festival.
