The 18th Dongducheon Wangbangsan MTB Competition and Children's Balance Bike Festival Successfully Concluded

Successfully Held with Over 1,000 Participants

Dongducheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Park Hyung-deok) announced on the 28th that the "18th Dongducheon Wangbangsan MTB Competition" was successfully held on the 27th around Haeryongsan, Wangbangsan, and Eodeungsan in the city.

Hosted by the Dongducheon City Sports Council and organized by the Dongducheon City Bicycle Federation, the event was attended by about 1,000 people including Mayor Park Hyung-deok, Dongducheon City Council Chairman Kim Seung-ho, guests, MTB enthusiasts from across the country, children’s balance bike players, and their families, creating an atmosphere hotter than ever before.

The race course started from the Sports Complex and covered approximately 35 km through Jangrim~Haeryongsan~Ojjijae~Wangbangsan~Yeraewon~Dongjeom~Soemok~Eodeungsan before returning to the Sports Complex. The competition was divided into 12 categories based on age, gender, and grade.

For the second year in a row, the event included balance bike races for children aged 5, 6, and 7, as well as four-wheeled bike races for children aged 8 and 9, making the Dongducheon Wangbangsan MTB Competition a family-friendly event.

To ensure smooth operation and prevent safety accidents, Dongducheon City designated 17 departments within the city hall to assign safety management personnel to each zone, and the Dongducheon Police Station deployed control personnel densely at every traffic control section.

Additionally, members of the Dongducheon Model Drivers Association, Dongducheon Crime Prevention Patrol Union, Capital Defense Command Dongducheon Veterans Association, and Dongducheon Marine Corps Veterans Association participated as traffic controllers and safety personnel along the course.

In particular, members of the Dongducheon Rotary Club provided water and snacks to the players at rest stops along the course. Thanks to the collaboration of public officials, related organizations, and social groups, the competition was completed safely without any major accidents.

At the opening ceremony, Mayor Park Hyung-deok said, “I sincerely welcome all the mountain bike enthusiasts from across the country who have come to Dongducheon City,” and encouraged, “I hope you enjoy the autumn atmosphere in Dongducheon, demonstrate your best skills, achieve great results, and complete the race safely.”

Meanwhile, in this competition, the winners of each category were: Park Ji-na (Dangjin MTB) in Women’s Division 1, Kim Eun-sook (Ansan City Bicycle Federation) in Women’s Division 2, Baek Seung-yong in the Senior-Junior Combined Division, Park Hoe-young in Veteran Divisions 1 and 2, Lee Byung-soo (Sutismith_LON) in Master Division 1, Jo Yong-seok in Master Division 2, Lim Jong-woo in Grandmaster Division 1, Choi Yoo-sang in Grandmaster Division 2, Lee Young-seop in Super Grandmaster Division 1, Yoon Won-sik in Super Grandmaster Division 2, Sung Jun-hyuk (Black Eagles) in the Gravel Division, and Kim Sang-seung in the E-Bike Division.
