Dong-A University Selects 'Proud Dong-A Members' to Commemorate 78th Anniversary of Founding

Dong-A University (President Lee Hae-woo) has selected Bang Seong-bin, President of BNK Busan Bank, and Kwon Ki-cheol, lawyer at Jeongin Law Firm, as recipients of the ‘Proud Dong-A Alumni Award’ in celebration of the university’s 78th anniversary.

The award ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on the 31st during the anniversary ceremony at Dawoo Hall on Dong-A University’s Bumin Campus.

President Bang graduated from Dong-A University’s Department of Law and joined Busan Bank in 1989. He has held various positions including Head of the Management Innovation Department, Chief of the Executive Office, Head of the Inspection Department, Head of the Compliance Department, Head of the Management Planning Headquarters, Head of the Management Strategy Group, and Head of the Global Division at BNK Financial Group, overseeing roles from internal control departments to strategic and financial operations.

During his tenure as Head of the Management Planning Headquarters, he was responsible for overseas business and led the opening of the bank’s second branch in China, obtaining approval for the Nanjing branch within six months, setting the record for the shortest approval period for a foreign bank branch in China.

In April 2023, he was appointed as the 14th President of BNK Busan Bank. With strong drive, he has pioneered global business and played a leading role in revitalizing the regional economy. He has also created new value for the local community through contributions in various fields such as culture, arts, sports, and the environment.

Lawyer Kwon graduated at the top of his class from Dong-A University’s Department of Law and completed graduate studies in law. After passing the 38th Judicial Examination in 1996, he served as a presiding judge at Busan District Court, Changwon District Court, and Busan High Court. He served as Chief Judge of the Masan Branch of Changwon District Court in 2023 and has been practicing law at Jeongin Law Firm since this year.

During his 25 years of service, Lawyer Kwon handled criminal trials for 15 years and was responsible for interviewing and training public defenders, earning recognition as a criminal trial expert in the Busan legal community. Additionally, he served as the leader of the Mongolian Hope Expedition of the Hope Travel, an international volunteer group of the Korean courts, in 2019, and has given special lectures on the theme “The Dream of the Constitution: You, Me, and Us” at local universities, enhancing the prestige of Dong-A University.

He attracted attention earlier this year when he retired as Chief Judge of the Masan Branch of Changwon District Court and joined Jeongin, a major law firm in Busan.
