[Concall] LG Energy Solution "4680 Supply Under Additional Discussion with Clients"

On the 28th, LG Energy Solution stated in its Q3 earnings conference call that regarding the mass production and additional order possibilities of the 4680 (46mm diameter, 80mm length cylindrical battery), "We are currently negotiating supply schedules with major customers, starting sample mass production in Q4," and "The preparation for mass production at the new 4680 line in Ochang is in its final stages."

They added, "In addition to the recently announced supply contract with an automaker, we are closely communicating with multiple customers about supplying various 46-series products," and explained, "We plan to supply from the Arizona plant, which is currently being expanded, starting in 2026."

Previously, LG Energy Solution agreed to supply a total of 50.5 GWh of batteries for Mercedes-Benz electric vehicles from 2028 to 2038. These batteries are known to be 46-pie (diameter) cylindrical batteries. This is the first time LG Energy Solution has signed a large-scale cylindrical battery supply contract with a major automaker other than Tesla.
