Yeongdeok-gun Launches Task Force for Full-Scale Response to Pine Wilt Disease

Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongbuk, will form a control team composed of both public and private sectors to establish a fundamental solution and an effective response system against the rapidly spreading pine wilt disease along the East Coast. The inauguration ceremony and briefing will be held on the 31st.

The control team will consist of 95 members, including specialized forestry corporations, design and supervision companies, and related staff. After conducting a full survey and establishing a control strategy based on the implementation design, responsibility control zones will be set for each district to carry out proactive and effective control activities.

To this end, Yeongdeok-gun is determined to protect its dense pine forests, which have achieved first place nationwide in natural pine mushroom production for 12 consecutive years, by urgently injecting an additional 1 billion KRW in reserve funds on top of the 2.8 billion KRW budget for pine wilt disease control this year.

County Governor Kim Gwang-yeol stated, “We will build a strong public-private cooperation system, establish effective strategies based on scientific investigations, and thoroughly implement them. We will devote all our efforts to preserving Yeongdeok’s forest resources, which are the foundation of residents’ lives and hold sustainable added value.”
