Kumho Tire (CEO Jeong Il-taek) announced on the 28th that all three domestic factories (Gwangju, Gokseong, Pyeongtaek) have obtained the ‘ISO 50001’ certification.
ISO 50001 is an energy management system standard established by ISO (International Organization for Standardization) that evaluates whether energy efficiency is continuously improved and energy consumption is optimized to systematically establish and manage an energy management system.
By obtaining ISO 50001 certification, companies can continuously improve energy performance through systematic management. This enables the development of energy management indicators and the discovery of energy-saving and efficiency improvement items. It also provides a foundation to proactively respond to carbon and energy regulations, reducing legal risks and contributing to enhancing corporate credibility.
Based on the 2045 Carbon Neutrality Roadmap, Kumho Tire is implementing greenhouse gas emission management, facility investment and management system improvements for energy reduction, and transitioning to renewable energy. In particular, the company has organized the ‘Energy Management System Certification T.F.T’ and fostered specialized personnel through internal auditor training within the company. Additionally, it has measured and monitored areas requiring energy efficiency improvements at production facilities and carried out activities to reduce energy consumption and costs.
Kim Myung-seon, Vice President of Production Technology, stated, “Kumho Tire established an environmental management policy last year reflecting its commitment to minimizing environmental impact, and is promoting carbon neutrality and environmental management activities company-wide through various channels.” He emphasized, “Under the ESG management vision of ‘Your Sustainability Partner,’ we will strive to realize the value of sustainability.”
Meanwhile, Kumho Tire is actively undertaking tasks to achieve ESG management goals while pursuing international standard certifications. Earlier this year, Kumho Tire obtained integrated certification for ISO 37301 (Compliance Management System) and ISO 37001 (Anti-Bribery Management System) to enhance employee awareness related to compliance and ethical management and to ensure efficient operations.
