The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 28th that it has selected the ‘Top 50 Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) R&D Outstanding Achievements’ companies that have produced excellent results through research and development (R&D) projects.

Since 2019, companies that have successfully completed or are currently conducting R&D supported by the Ministry over the past five years were invited to apply. Selection was made through performance verification and expert evaluation. This year, a total of 336 companies applied, showing a competition rate of 6.7 to 1.

‘Genieworks,’ selected in the commercialization category, developed a new concept commerce network platform that allows more customers to be reached on a single platform. The project achieved cumulative sales of 89.9 billion KRW and secured 9 billion KRW in investment, continuously developing its technology.

In the strategic technology category, ‘Nopion,’ which secured micro-particle development and control technology used in semiconductor and micro LED processes under 10㎛, was recognized. It is expected to lead the strategic technology field by conducting technology cooperation for commercialization with global companies.

In the challenge and re-challenge category, ‘Yeongnam Industry’ attracted attention. Despite management difficulties caused by rising product prices due to raw material price surges, Yeongnam Industry overcame challenges by producing excellent products through technology development, such as the innovative CV corrugated steel pipe product with improved watertightness and durability. Currently, it is pioneering new markets through designations as an innovative product, green technology certification, and low-carbon product certification.

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups will hold the ‘SME R&D Performance Expansion Week’ next month for the 50 selected companies. Through ministerial commendations, excellent product exhibitions, and public institution matching days, the ministry plans to share companies’ performance results and provide commercialization support.

Additionally, various incentives will be provided, including participation in dedicated bank investment support programs with IBK Industrial Bank and Hana Bank, low-interest loans through interest rate reductions, support for participation in global exhibitions such as CES, and preferential scoring for subsequent R&D participation. Strategic promotion efforts such as planning and publishing excellent casebooks and producing promotional videos will also be strengthened.

Kim Woo-soon, Director of Technology Innovation Policy at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, said, “We will continue to discover SMEs that demonstrate excellent R&D achievements and actively support their commercialization and promotion so that they can continuously grow despite difficult external environments.”
