Children's Horse Riding Experience and Alley Parade
Events Including 3,000 Won Discount Coupons and Prize Draws
Seocho-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jeon Seong-su) will hold the “7th Yangjae Maljukgeori Festival,” a two-day event featuring various experiential activities and performances, from the 31st of this month to the 1st of next month in the Maljukgeori area of Yangjae-dong.
This year’s festival, themed “An Invitation to Taste, Style, and Romance,” is prepared to capture the autumnal romance through the diverse foods of Maljukgeori Market, the charm of nostalgic feelings, alley parades, and performances.
The festival opens with “horses,” reflecting the origin of the name Maljukgeori, which means “the street where horse porridge was fed.” On both days of the festival, from 12 PM to 4 PM, a stable where children can ride horses and feed them will be operated in front of the SPC headquarters plaza, along with a photo zone to attract family visitors.
On November 1st, when the main events take place, various attractions such as ▲children’s experience booths ▲a singing contest ▲alley parade ▲busking ▲and celebratory performances will be held.
Children’s experience booths including smart tattoos, digital caricatures, photo booths, and board games will operate from 11 AM to 4 PM. During lunchtime, a busking performance by a young musician band will take place on the stage in front of Exit 5 of Yangjae Station. Starting at 2 PM, the Maljukgeori Singing Contest will feature talented local residents who passed the preliminary round competing passionately to the accompaniment of the Maljukgeori Silver Orchestra.
The highlight of the festival, the alley parade, will see residents and merchants marching together along approximately 1 km of Maljukgeori, led by six horses symbolizing Maljukgeori, accompanied by lively performances from a brass band and a traditional Korean percussion group. Following this, celebratory performances will continue on a special stage, starting with ‘BAU Dances’ from Baekseok Arts University, followed by Park Hyun-bin, Wina, Groove Us, and others.
Meanwhile, to revitalize the Maljukgeori commercial district, discount and lottery events will also be held during the festival. A total of 2,200 discount coupons worth about 3,000 KRW each, usable at around 70 Maljukgeori businesses, will be distributed. Additionally, lottery tickets will be given to customers using Maljukgeori stores and event participants, with a drawing to award generous prizes.
District Mayor Jeon Seong-su said, “I hope this festival will be an opportunity for merchants and residents to unite and bring vitality to the alley commercial district. I wish many people will come to Maljukgeori to fully enjoy the taste, style, and romance.”
