Real-time 24/7 Crowd Status at Seongsu Station Exits 1-4 via CCTV Available on YouTube
Search 'Seongsu Station LIVE' on YouTube or Access via Seongdong-gu Office Website Icon at the Bottom
Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeong Won-oh) announced that it will operate a YouTube channel called ‘Seongsu Station Live (LIVE)’ where people can check the crowd status in real time to prevent safety accidents caused by congestion around the exits of Seongsu Station, which has emerged as a ‘hot place’ with a rapidly increasing floating population.
Seongdong-gu will stream real-time footage from unmanned cameras (CCTV) near exits 1 to 4 of Seongsu Station on YouTube so that residents can directly check the situation at the Seongsu Station exits.
After accessing YouTube, users can search for ‘Seongsu Station Rolling Cam’ or ‘Seongsu Station Live,’ or check it 24/7 throughout the year via the ‘Seongsu Live’ icon at the bottom of the Seongdong-gu Office website (homepage).
To protect personal information, the videos are blurred, and footage from four congested areas near Seongsu Station is streamed sequentially at 15-second intervals.
As concerns about safety accidents due to large crowds increase, Seongdong-gu has prepared a strong ‘Comprehensive Crowd Density Reinforcement Plan’ and is focusing on safety management in the Seongsu-dong area.
Especially ahead of the upcoming Halloween Day, the ‘Seongsu Station Live (LIVE)’ YouTube channel is expected to help residents check the crowd status themselves as part of special safety management for large crowds, thereby aiding in preemptive crowd dispersion and prevention of safety accidents.
Jeong Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “I hope that through this ‘Seongsu Station Live (LIVE),’ residents’ anxiety about crowd-related accidents will be alleviated,” and added, “We will always prioritize residents’ safety and do our best to continuously develop solutions to prepare for disaster accidents.”
