An American YouTuber, Johnny Somali, who caused disturbances such as kissing the Korean Peace Statue and spilling ramen on the floor of a convenience store, was assaulted by a passerby while live streaming on the streets of Seoul.

On the night of the 24th, Johnny Somali was conducting a YouTube live broadcast. While walking the streets of Seoul with a companion, he was punched in the face by a man who approached from behind. Somali's companion, startled, shouted, "Why are you doing this?" The man then snatched Somali's phone, which was being used for the live broadcast, and left the scene.

When Somali and his group shouted, "Why are you running away?" and chased after the man, the passerby threw the confiscated phone away and disappeared. Johnny Somali later appeared on the broadcast with a bandage on his eye. The identity of the man who assaulted Somali and the reason for the attack have not yet been revealed.

Previously, Johnny Somali had angered netizens by posting videos on his YouTube channel showing rude behavior while roaming around Korea. One YouTube Shorts video he posted showed him performing obscene dances and harassing the Peace Statue to the tune of K-pop music. In front of another Peace Statue, he took off his shirt and kissed the statue, and he also shared a video of himself dancing in the middle of a crowded subway.

On the 17th, while broadcasting inside a convenience store, when a store employee told him, "Please don't be so loud inside the store and don't drink soju," he responded with profanity and poured cup ramen water onto the convenience store floor, recording and sharing the incident, which drew criticism.

Johnny Somali also exhibited inappropriate behavior not only in Korea but in Japan as well. He was previously prosecuted for obstructing business while broadcasting in a Japanese restaurant and was fined 200,000 yen (approximately 1.83 million KRW). In June of last year, he played obscene material on the Japanese subway and played music with lyrics mentioning 'atomic bomb' at Tokyo Disneyland, continuing his disruptive behavior across East Asia. As of the 27th, Johnny Somali has about 20,000 subscribers on YouTube.
