Yeo "Investigation Without Sanctuary Through Special Prosecutor Law Needed"
Han Dong-hoon Expresses Intention to Promote Special Inspector Appointment
Ruling Party Likely to Conclude at Early November Party Meeting
The Democratic Party of Korea criticized on the 27th that Han Dong-hoon, the leader of the People Power Party, proposed the appointment of a special inspector to President Yoon Seok-yeol, calling it "a delay tactic for the special prosecutor and an obstruction."

The Democratic Party argued that the suspicions surrounding First Lady Kim Geon-hee are not limited to the Deutsche Motors stock manipulation allegations but also include suspicions of personnel intervention, nomination interference, and involvement in vested interests, insisting that a comprehensive investigation by a special prosecutor, not the appointment of a special inspector, is necessary.
Kang Yoo-jung, the party’s floor spokesperson, stated in a commentary, "A special inspector without investigative or prosecutorial authority cannot exonerate Mrs. Kim from criminal charges," adding, "This is an attempt to hand the case back to the prosecution, which is shouting 'The First Lady is innocent'." She emphasized, "What is needed now is an unreserved investigation through the special prosecutor law," and said, "If Leader Han wants to resolve the issue concerning Mrs. Kim and show his own politics, he only needs to vote in favor of introducing the special prosecutor."
Kim Min-seok, a Supreme Council member, also held a press conference that day, saying, "The special inspector is a futile attempt to stop the waves with a washbasin," and urged, "Leader Han should stop the 'special inspector political show' and express his support for the Kim Geon-hee special prosecutor."
Leader Han believes that the introduction of a special inspector can quell the controversy surrounding First Lady Kim Geon-hee. The special inspector is responsible for inspecting misconduct by the president’s relatives or those in a special relationship with the president. The People Power Party plans to hold a party meeting in early November to make a decision on the appointment of the special inspector.
