Hong Jun-pyo to Han Dong-hoon: "Only attacking the president and causing ruling party turmoil... childish rampage"

Criticism of Han Dong-hoon After Meeting the President
"Sniper" Expression Causes Discomfort

Hong Joon-pyo, the mayor of Daegu, once again took aim at Han Dong-hoon, the leader of the People Power Party.

On the 26th, Mayor Hong wrote on Facebook, "I was elected to oppose Lee Jae-myung, but instead, you don't say a word to the opposition party and only attack the president, causing discord within the ruling party," criticizing, "There is a limit even to reckless mischief." He added, "After great hardship, the crossed regimes are being destroyed by a handful of lemmings (rat swarms). What on earth are you doing now?"

This was a shot fired by Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo at Han Dong-hoon following a meeting between President Yoon Seok-yeol and Han on the 23rd. It is interpreted as pointing out the intensifying conflict within the ruling party over Han’s proposal of recommending a special inspector as a solution to the issue involving First Lady Kim Geon-hee.

Earlier, although Mayor Hong did not mention Han directly, he said, "President Yoon became president by confronting the entrenched power, and it seems Han is following suit, but he must understand that the situation now is completely different from back then," adding, "Causing internal chaos in the middle of the term, not at the end, is considered treason within the conservative camp."

He continued, "Differentiation should be done only toward the end of the term. Stop acting like an amateur and, as a united party and government, resolve this chaos," and said, "Politics that only cares about one’s image and takes selfies like Mayor Oh Se-hoon (Seoul), who is not even handsome, will not last long."

When the media labeled him as a 'sharpshooter targeting Han Dong-hoon,' he expressed displeasure, saying, "I cannot shake off the thought that this is truly ignorant," and, "You have to be a worthy target to be called a sharpshooter. How could I possibly shoot at such a dark junior?" He added, "(My criticism of Han) is not shooting but merely teaching him a lesson not to do foolish things."
