Galaxy's 'Ultra-Slim' Foldable Phone Nearing 2.8 Million Won, Sold Out in 10 Minutes Despite Delayed Release

The new product, 'Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition (SE),' began sales 7 hours after the scheduled launch time on the 25th, but the stock was sold out in less than 10 minutes.

Samsung Electronics and the three major mobile carriers announced on the 21st that this product would be sold through their official online malls starting at 9 a.m. on the 25th. However, the product sales page was not displayed, and sales only began at 4 p.m., 7 hours later. The initial stock sold out within 10 minutes, causing sales to be suspended.

Samsung Electronics plans to prepare more units before resuming sales. A Samsung Electronics official stated, "Since this is a special edition, the quantity will be smaller than the regular Galaxy series," and regarding suspicions of quality issues, added, "The delay was due to the time it took to determine the production quantity and decide how many units to release."

The system is such that once the devices are delivered from the manufacturer to the carriers, sales to consumers begin. However, due to the delay in confirming the quantity, the devices were not delivered on time, and sales could not start.

The Galaxy Z Fold SE is a product available only online. Currently, the Samsung.com site displays a notice stating, "All prepared stock has been sold out. We will inform you when additional stock arrives." On the online malls of the three carriers, only event posts for Galaxy Z Fold SE buyers are shown, and the product sales page is not visible.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold SE is characterized by being the thinnest among all Galaxy foldable series, with a thickness of 4.9 mm when unfolded and 10.6 mm when folded. The main display has been expanded to 8.0 inches.

It is equipped with a 200-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera, enabling high-resolution photo shooting, and supports up to 30x digital zoom. The retail price is 2,789,600 KRW.
