"Vice Chair of Anti-Corruption Commission Said 'Saw the Deceased Executive's Will'... Actually Park Won-soon's Will [2024 National Audit]"

Lee Kang-il Lawmaker "Trust in What Has Been Said So Far Is Collapsing"

Jeong Seung-yoon, Vice Chairman of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, stated on the 25th during the National Assembly's Political Affairs Committee audit that he "saw the will of the deceased official" and presented the will of former Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon, but later said it was a misunderstanding after seeing internet articles.

Earlier, during the Political Affairs Committee audit on the 8th, when Lee Kang-il, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, asked, "Did the bereaved families recently say that the will did not include the helicopter incident involving Representative Lee Jae-myung?" Jeong replied, "I saw the will. There is no such content at all." However, when Lee In-young, a member of the same party, asked what the content was on that day, Jeong answered, "I saw the content reported in the media."

Subsequently, the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission sent a photo to Lee’s office, claiming it was the will Jeong had seen, which matched the content of former Mayor Park’s will that had been disclosed through the media.

Lee emphasized, "At this point, doesn't the credibility of all the stories told so far collapse? It is also an insult to the deceased official of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, as well as an insult to former Mayor Park and his bereaved families. This is a clear violation of the National Assembly audit law."

In response, Vice Chairman Jeong apologized, saying, "I was fooled by fake news and thought it was the will until now. I am sorry."

Regarding Lee’s criticism that his explanation is hard to trust, Jeong replied, "After the (Kim Geon-hee’s luxury) bag incident, I developed trauma and our commission does not watch the media at all. It is extremely painful."

Vice Chairman Jeong is the direct superior of the senior official of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission who died in August. It is known that this official was in charge of the department responsible for the luxury bag incident involving President Yoon Suk-yeol’s wife Kim Geon-hee and the helicopter transport incident involving Representative Lee Jae-myung.
