Goyang City Announces Open Recruitment for the 6th Women's Friendly City Citizen Participation Group Goyang City Hall exterior.

Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 25th that it will publicly recruit the 6th Goyang City Women-Friendly City Citizen Participation Group by November 15 to create a "Goyang where all citizens are happy and safe."

Since its first formation in 2014, the Goyang City Women-Friendly City Citizen Participation Group has contributed to fostering a practical culture of gender equality by activating women's participation in local policies and development processes. This includes conducting surveys for the establishment of women’s safe private restrooms, gender-sensitivity monitoring of promotional materials, gender-sensitivity monitoring during Gender Equality Week events, and implementing independent projects such as gender equality programs for children and seniors, thereby spreading the values of gender equality and the significance of women's activities within the local community.

The recruitment is for up to 35 members. Anyone of any gender or age who resides or works in Goyang City and has completed gender-sensitivity education (at least 15 hours) or has engaged in gender equality-related activities for more than one year can participate. To apply, download the application form from the Goyang City website and submit it via email or mail to the Women and Family Division (Women’s Policy Team) at Goyang City Hall.

The term of the 6th Citizen Participation Group is two years. Members will identify gender imbalances and discriminatory elements in daily life, propose constructive opinions for the creation of a women-friendly city, and conduct citizen promotion and policy monitoring of women-friendly city projects.

Meanwhile, a women-friendly city is a region where women and men participate equally in local policy processes, and policies are operated to realize women’s empowerment, care, and safety. Nationwide, 104 regions (including 15 in Gyeonggi Province) have been designated as women-friendly cities.

Since its initial designation in 2014, Goyang City has been actively promoting projects in five areas to create a women-friendly city: ▲ Establishing a foundation for gender equality promotion ▲ Expanding economic and social participation ▲ Enhancing community safety ▲ Creating a family-friendly (care) environment ▲ Strengthening community activity capabilities.
