Yangju City Holds Budget Participation Citizens' Committee General Meeting... 23 Citizen Proposals Selected

Yangju City held the "9th Budget Participation Citizens' Committee General Meeting" on the 23rd at the Yangjugwanaji Comprehensive Information Center conference room to finalize the 2024 Resident Participatory Budget Proposal Projects, followed by a commemorative photo.

Yangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kang Su-hyun) announced on the 25th that it held the "9th Budget Participation Citizens' Committee General Meeting" on the 23rd at the Yangjugwana-ji Comprehensive Information Center meeting room to finalize the 2024 resident participation budget proposal projects.

The resident participation budget system is a system where residents directly participate in the budget formulation process to propose desired projects and convey their opinions.

Through this general meeting, 23 projects worth 1.2 billion KRW were finally selected out of 67 projects proposed by citizens from February to May.

Previously, the committee reviewed the validity and efficiency of the 67 resident-proposed projects received by categorizing them by subcommittees through three subcommittee meetings held from May to October.

The major projects selected at this general meeting include the "Installation of street benches for pedestrians with mobility difficulties" and "Creating a cultural art attraction, Park Hwa-mok, for Yangju City's rebranding."

The selected projects will be reflected in Yangju City's main budget for 2025 and are expected to be implemented next year after final approval by the city council in December.

A city official said, "We thank the citizens who proposed good projects for the development of Yangju City and the members of the Budget Participation Citizens' Committee who carefully reviewed the projects to ensure that the projects needed by citizens were selected," adding, "The projects finalized today will be included in next year's budget to improve the quality of life for citizens and contribute to solving local issues."
