KCGS Achieves 'A' Grade or Higher in All ESG Evaluation Categories, Earns 'Integrated A Grade'
Recognized for Climate Change Response Processes and Efforts for Coexistence with Local Communities
BNK Financial Group (Chairman Bin Dae-in) was recognized for its efforts in ESG management by receiving an integrated ESG grade of A in the ‘2024 KCGS ESG Evaluation and Rating Announcement’ released by the Korea Institute of Corporate Governance and Sustainability (KCGS).
In particular, the Environmental (E) sector was upgraded to an A+ grade compared to the previous year, and the Social (S) sector maintained an A+ grade, showing remarkable achievements.
BNK Financial Group’s efforts to achieve carbon neutrality in the environmental sector were recognized, resulting in an upgrade to an A+ grade. The group strengthened its greenhouse gas management system by simultaneously establishing an ESG data platform and a financial emissions measurement system, obtained certification for its greenhouse gas reduction targets under the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), and expanded eco-friendly financial products, demonstrating its commitment to addressing climate change.
In the social sector, BNK Financial Group maintained an A+ grade, receiving recognition for excellent performance in coexistence with local communities, strengthening human rights, consumer protection, and fulfilling social responsibilities. The group is fulfilling its corporate social responsibility by expanding financial support for local small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners, and developing customized financial products for vulnerable groups, striving to create a sustainable society.
BNK Financial Group is strengthening its governance by establishing a transparent and responsible management system, building a board-centered decision-making structure, and systematically promoting ESG management through the establishment of an ESG committee.
BNK Financial Group is not satisfied with the current ESG evaluation results and plans to continue expanding ESG finance to seek growth together with local communities.
