On the 25th, Nam-gu, Gwangju City announced that it will carry out a 'secondary screening cost' support project for residents who received a suspicious diagnosis in the national cancer screening. This project will continue until the related budget is exhausted by the end of this year.
The support targets residents living in the district who received a suspicious diagnosis of colorectal cancer or breast cancer in this year's national cancer screening. Additionally, residents who received such a diagnosis through cancer screening from October to December last year will also be retroactively supported.
For those aged 50 and over with suspected colorectal cancer, up to 60,000 KRW will be provided for colonoscopy sedation examination fees, and women aged 40 and over who received a suspicious breast cancer diagnosis can receive up to 60,000 KRW for ultrasound costs.
To apply for the 'secondary screening cost' support, applicants must bring the original national cancer screening result, medical expense receipts, bankbook, and ID card to the Juwol Health Life Support Center.
A Nam-gu official said, "Since this project is being conducted to detect cancer early and promote residents' health, we hope eligible applicants submit their applications by the end of the year to receive the benefits."
