95,000 KRW per chapter... 3 times the normal price
25 victims... Collected a total of 2.45 million KRW
Dongbu Police Station "Will continue strict response"
A man in his 20s was arrested by the police for fraudulently selling Korean Series baseball tickets through an online secondhand trading site.
On the 25th, the Daegu Dongbu Police Station announced that they had arrested and were investigating a man in his 20s, identified as Mr. A, on charges of fraud. According to the police, Mr. A posted a false listing on a secondhand trading site claiming to sell Korean Series tickets and received a total of 2.45 million won from 25 people.
It was found that Mr. A did not possess the Korean Series tickets but collected about 95,000 won per ticket. This amount is more than three times the normal price. Mr. A reportedly took advantage of the fact that the tickets were sold out and many people wanted to purchase tickets through non-face-to-face transactions. After receiving reports of the fraud, the police conducted intensive investigations across the country and arrested Mr. A the day before.
Jang Hosik, chief of the Dongbu Police Station, stated, "As the excitement for the Korean Series intensifies, frauds exploiting non-face-to-face transactions are rampant, so people should refrain from buying tickets without verifying the physical tickets." He added, "We will strictly respond to crimes such as ticket fraud and scalping during the remaining Korean Series period."
