The Sixth Time This Year
An employee at an NH Nonghyup Bank branch embezzled customer deposits. This marks the sixth known financial incident at Nonghyup Bank this year.
According to the financial sector on the 24th, Nonghyup Bank recently revealed that an employee at a branch in the Ulsan area embezzled deposits from a customer in their 70s.
The employee reportedly siphoned off the customer's deposits multiple times since July this year, with the amount embezzled estimated at approximately 250 million KRW.
Financial incidents at Nonghyup Bank have been continuous this year. In March, a branch employee was accused of breach of trust related to real estate collateral loans, followed by two similar financial incidents uncovered through internal audits in May.
In August, a branch employee committed embezzlement amounting to over 10 billion KRW by taking out loans under an acquaintance's name, and this month, the bank filed a criminal complaint against the borrower for irregular transactions involving real estate collateral loans.
