A fire broke out around 6:30 PM on the 24th at a US military facility near Busan Port, and firefighting authorities are conducting extinguishing operations.
The Busan Fire Headquarters announced that after the initial fire response level 1 at the 55 Supply Depot in Beomil-dong, Dong-gu, they upgraded to level 2 around 8 PM, mobilizing all nearby firefighting forces and deploying about 30 firefighting vehicles to suppress the fire.
So far, no casualties have been reported. The 55 Supply Depot near Busan Port is a US military facility that stores US military equipment brought into Busan Port.
Fire authorities estimate that the fire started while performing pipe work inside a refrigerated warehouse within the US military base.
At around 7:30 PM on the same day, Busan City sent safety advisory messages to Jung-gu, Seo-gu, Dong-gu, Yeongdo-gu, and Nam-gu areas, informing residents: "A fire has occurred at the 55 Supply Depot in Dong-gu, producing a large amount of smoke and dust. Nearby residents are advised to secure windows and be cautious of safety accidents."
