Former Secret group member Song Ji-eun and YouTuber Park Wi tied the knot, but a congratulatory speech by Park Wi's younger brother has recently sparked controversy.

On the 12th, a video titled "The Fairy Tale-like Wedding of Park Wi and Song Ji-eun, Where Every Moment Was a Miracle" was uploaded on Park Wi's YouTube channel 'WERACLE'. The video captured the wedding ceremony of Song Ji-eun and Park Wi held on the 9th at a location in Gangnam, Seoul. The couple announced their marriage in front of numerous guests including family, relatives, and acquaintances.

However, shortly after, netizens engaged in heated debates over the congratulatory speech given by Park Wi's younger brother, Park Ji-woo, in the video. At the time, he began his speech by saying, "Our family went through a really tough time after my brother was diagnosed with full-body paralysis due to an unexpected accident 10 years ago," and added, "Recently, while my brother was working out with his sister-in-law at the gym, there was an incident where something smelly was released because he exerted too much strength." He then mentioned a private anecdote about Song Ji-eun and Park Wi, saying, "So my brother asked, 'Ji-eun, doesn't it smell a bit?' and my sister-in-law replied, '(Sniff sniff) It smells a little. Don't worry, oppa. First, let's move you to the wheelchair, and if any problem arises, I'll take care of it.'" Park then said, "I've never heard such a trustworthy statement in my life," and added, "After hearing this, I finally thought I could let my brother go from my heart. Now, I will send my trustworthy sister-in-law to take care of him. Farewell, brother."

Some netizens expressed discomfort with the speech, commenting, "It feels like Song Ji-eun is being treated like a caregiver," "The content is inappropriate for a wedding congratulatory speech," "The part where he sniffed and imitated it made me embarrassed," and "Song Ji-eun's parents must have been devastated." On the other hand, some defended the speech, saying, "It just expressed how much trust there is in Song Ji-eun," "It's not something others should criticize if they are happy together," and "They look happy, so why the fuss?" As the controversy grew, Park Wi removed the part of Park Ji-woo's speech from the video.

Meanwhile, Song Ji-eun debuted in 2009 as a member of the group Secret and is active as a singer and actress. Park Wi is a YouTuber with about 900,000 subscribers who was diagnosed with full-body paralysis after a fall accident in 2014 but recovered his upper body through rehabilitation. The two met through early morning church services, publicly started dating in December last year, held their wedding, and became a married couple.
