Dongmyung University Hosts Special Calligraphy Exhibition to Commemorate 32nd Anniversary of Korea-China Diplomatic Relations

"Promoting Bilateral Friendship 'Chin-in Seon-rin' Theme
At Busan City Hall from 27th to November 3rd"

The "Korea-China Calligraphy Special Invitational Exhibition" commemorating the 32nd anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and China will be held from the 27th of this month to the 3rd of next month at the 3rd Exhibition Hall of Busan City Hall. The theme of the special invitational exhibition is "Chin-in Seon-rin" (親仁善隣), which signifies the wish for a friendly relationship between the two countries.


Co-hosted by Dongmyung University and the Chinese Consulate General in Busan, this invitational exhibition will display 74 works submitted by 42 calligraphers from both Korea and China.

Jeon Ho-hwan, president of Dongmyung University, presents 15 pieces including "Han-Jung Myeongcheon Gaengho" (韓中明天更好), expressing the hope for a better future between Korea and China on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of diplomatic relations. Chen Il-pyo (陳日彪), Consul General of China in Busan, submits 16 pieces including "Chin-in Seon-rin Hyeophwa Manbang" (親仁善隣 協和萬邦), which means being close to virtuous people and establishing friendly relations with neighboring countries.


The participating artists include 12 from Korea, among them Ven. Gyeongseon, former head monk of Beomeosa Temple, and 30 from China, including Mr. Huang Xiao (黃嘯). Ven. Gyeongseon presents 2 pieces including "Banjo Sammae" (返照三昧), meaning "reflecting sincerely and entering meditation."


The proceeds from sales will be donated as scholarships for Chinese international students. The opening ceremony will be held on the 30th at 2 p.m. in the 3rd Exhibition Hall of Busan City Hall.
