President Yoon Suk-yeol stated on the 24th, "The governments of South Korea and Poland have agreed to actively support the successful progress of defense industry cooperation, including the 'K2 Tank Second Implementation Contract,' which both countries are negotiating to finalize within this year."

Following a summit with Polish President Andrzej Duda in the afternoon, President Yoon said in a joint press release, "We had in-depth discussions on ways to further deepen and develop the strategic partnership between the two countries."

President Yoon introduced, "President Duda's visit to South Korea this time, following my visit to Poland last July, marks the first state visit by a Polish president in 11 years. Over time, I have maintained close communication and built friendship with President Duda, and today’s meeting is already the fourth summit between us."

He continued, "I am very pleased that South Korea and the Republic of Poland are communicating more closely and engaging actively than ever in this meaningful year marking the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations," emphasizing, "Over the past 35 years, South Korea and Poland have deepened mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields based on shared values of freedom, human rights, and the rule of law."

"Deepening Cooperation in Strategic Areas such as Energy and Advanced Industries"

President Yoon explained, "In particular, in 2013, we established a 'strategic partnership' to lay the foundation for further developing bilateral relations," adding, "Now, the two countries have grown together as reliable allies and true friends jointly responding to various global challenges."

He also said, "Today, South Korea is Poland’s second-largest investor, and trade between the two countries has set record highs for six consecutive years," noting, "On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of establishing the 'South Korea-Poland Strategic Partnership' last year, during the visit to Poland, the two leaders agreed to deepen cooperation in strategic sectors such as defense industry, energy, and advanced industries beyond economic and trade relations."

President Yoon stated, "The current international security situation is more serious than ever," and added, "Based on the trust built so far, the two countries will operate regular consultations between defense and defense industry authorities and jointly seek cooperation measures that can contribute to mutual security and defense."

They will also work together to strengthen energy, security, and advanced industries. President Yoon said, "We have agreed to jointly explore ways to expand the production of various carbon-free energies, including nuclear power and renewable energy," and "We will encourage the steady implementation of memorandums of understanding signed last year to deepen cooperation in advanced industries and scientific research and development, and expand investments at both government and private levels."

Furthermore, he conveyed, "The two countries will build an advanced technology strategic partnership encompassing clean energy, batteries, future vehicles, autonomous robots, and biotechnology," and "The two leaders deeply agreed on the need to support active human and cultural exchanges between future generations for the continuous development of bilateral relations."

President Yoon expressed, "I hope that various cultural exchange events commemorating the 35th anniversary of South Korea-Poland diplomatic relations this year and the increase in direct flights between the two countries will lead to expanded tourism and human exchanges," and added, "We reaffirmed once again that South Korea and Poland will stand firmly united as responsible members of the international community to contribute to international peace and stability and uphold the rules-based order."

Yoon: "We Will Not Tolerate North Korea-Russia Military Cooperation"

In particular, the two leaders strongly condemned North Korea’s nuclear and missile development and provocations, as well as its illegal military cooperation with Russia. They agreed that North Korea’s deployment of troops to Russia, which directly violates the UN Charter and UN Security Council resolutions, is a provocation threatening security not only on the Korean Peninsula and Europe but worldwide.

President Yoon stated, "The Republic of Korea will never tolerate this, and depending on the progress of Russia-North Korea military cooperation, we will take necessary measures step-by-step together with the international community," and added, "South Korea and Poland will continue to cooperate to achieve North Korea’s denuclearization and improve the human rights of North Korean residents."

They also agreed to strengthen joint efforts for the restoration of peace and reconstruction in Ukraine. President Yoon said, "South Korea and Poland understand the pain of war better than anyone else," and added, "We will jointly explore support measures for Ukraine’s peace and reconstruction so that Ukraine can quickly overcome the devastation of war and open a new future."
