Strengthening Customized Education through Collaboration among Schools, Gyeonggi Shared Schools, and Gyeonggi Online Schools
Supporting Personalized Learning by Providing Diverse Learning Opportunities Utilizing Local Resources
Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education has decided to pilot the 'Recognition Plan for Out-of-School Education (Classes/Credits)' within the year to realize education where no one is left behind. The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Tae-hee) is preparing a ‘Recognition Plan for Out-of-School Education (Classes/Credits)’ and will begin pilot operations within the year to realize education that leaves no one behind.
According to the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education on the 24th, while promoting ‘The Center of Future Education, New Gyeonggi Education,’ efforts are being accelerated to establish a new Gyeonggi public education system linking schools, Gyeonggi Shared Schools, and Gyeonggi Online Schools.
In particular, to operate a rich school curriculum, they aim to recognize excellent programs from Gyeonggi Shared Schools as classes and credits. To this end, detailed plans have been prepared, and they intend to expand student-tailored education utilizing local resources.
Additionally, by preparing measures that allow elementary and middle school students in the province to participate, including the Gyeonggi Ieum On School scheduled to open in March 2025, they plan to further strengthen the connection with school education. Alongside this, Gyeonggi Online School will actively support providing various educational content to students in educational blind spots and help them grow as healthy members of society.
The main contents of the recognition plan for out-of-school education (classes/credits) include three areas and 14 types: ▲Customized academic improvement support ▲Expansion of experience linked to life ▲Expansion in breadth and depth of responsible education, with plans to pilot eight types this year.
The pilot operation will start with a total of 36 programs across two departments of the Provincial Office of Education and eight education support offices. Major programs include ▲Gyeonggi Korean Language School (Gyeonggi Korean Shared School) ▲Multicultural entrusted education institutions ▲Special education vocational experience courses ▲Dyslexia therapy specialized shared school (Uijeongbu) ▲Psychological and emotional counseling (Pyeongtaek), among others.
At the Gyeonggi Korean Shared School for multicultural students, stable admission and enrollment support is provided through systematic support tailored to growth stages. Additionally, vocational experience programs will be offered to students of special schools to broaden and diversify career and job experience opportunities.
Kim Yoon-gi, Director of Curriculum Policy at the Provincial Office of Education, said, “The recognition plan for out-of-school education (classes/credits) is a policy to actively support school education through a new public education system centered on change, opportunity, and challenge. By linking school education with Gyeonggi Shared Schools and Gyeonggi Online Schools, we will expand the scope of public education and build a robust Gyeonggi public education system to create education that leaves no one behind.”
