It has been confirmed that trash contained in a balloon sent by North Korea early on the 24th fell on the Yongsan Presidential Office building in Seoul. The balloon reportedly carried leaflets criticizing President Yoon Suk-yeol and his wife.
The Presidential Security Service stated that "in the early morning hours, a North Korean trash balloon burst in the air, scattering debris around the Yongsan office area." Safety inspections confirmed that the objects posed no danger or contamination, and collection procedures were carried out. The Security Service added, "We are continuously monitoring in cooperation with the Joint Chiefs of Staff."
The trash balloon sent by North Korea contained leaflets harshly criticizing President Yoon Suk-yeol and his wife. Regarding First Lady Kim Keon-hee, the leaflets described her as "Queen Kim Keon-hee, a modern-day Marie Antoinette who outshines even the epitome of luxury and indulgence, Marie Antoinette." The propaganda also included phrases such as "Geonhee Kingdom," "Kim Keon-hee ranked first for three consecutive years as the most influential figure to Yoon Suk-yeol," and "The tragicomedy of the century, the establishment of Geonhee Kingdom." President Yoon’s overseas trips were criticized as "wasting taxpayers' money by scattering it into the air." Other leaflets included statements like "You may not know the price of green onions, but you should know that you will be crushed by a nuclear fist."
This is the first time in three months since July 24 that North Korean trash balloon debris has fallen within the Presidential Office grounds. At that time, the Presidential Office stated, "We recognize the seriousness of the matter," and added, "Related agencies need to conduct a thorough review regarding additional measures and responses."
