An employee of Suwon Nambu Fire Station is installing a visual alarm-type fire detector for the hearing impaired.
The Suwon Nambu Fire Station in Gyeonggi Province will distribute visual alarm-type fire detectors for the hearing impaired until November 20.
This is based on the Disabled Welfare Act (Article 24), which requires the national and local governments to establish safety measures considering the characteristics of people with disabilities.
The visual fire detector for the hearing impaired is a device that visually notifies the occurrence of a fire by flashing an LED along with sound when a standalone alarm-type sensor is activated.
The Suwon Nambu Fire Station plans to prioritize distributing these fire detectors to 80 households with severe disabilities among the 6,691 registered hearing-impaired individuals in Suwon City.
Go Young-ju, chief of the Suwon Nambu Fire Station, stated, "Through this distribution, we expect that hearing-impaired individuals will be able to evacuate quickly in case of fire, preventing casualties," and added, "We will continue to promote preventive measures for fire safety-vulnerable households."
