Cheongsong-gun to Host Nationwide Sports Competitions One After Another This Fall

With the Cheers of the Competition, the Local Economy Also Thrives

Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, is invigorating the local economy by consecutively hosting nationwide and provincial-level sports competitions to welcome the autumn season.

Starting with the “2024 Cheongsong Apple Trail Run” held on October 13 at the “Oxygen Cafe Cheongsong Garden,” famous for being the largest zinnia flower garden in the country, various sports events are scheduled, including the “1st Cheongsong Golden Apple National Open Table Tennis Tournament” on October 26-27, the “3rd Cheongsong Golden Apple National High School Ssireum (Korean wrestling) Tournament” on October 31, the “23rd Gyeongsangbuk-do Governor’s Cup Amateur Bodybuilding Competition” and the “12th Cheongsong Apple Cup National Amateur Tennis Tournament” on November 2-3, and the “19th Cheongsong Nakdongjeongmaek Mountain Climbing Competition” on November 3. These events are expected to attract many athletes and officials, bringing vitality to the region.


These nationwide sports competitions are anticipated to draw over 1,000 athletes and spectators to Cheongsong for each event, which will stimulate consumption activities in the local commercial sector and enhance the value of the regional brand, generating various synergistic effects.


In particular, the inaugural 1st Cheongsong Golden Apple National Open Table Tennis Tournament, held for the first time this year, is a recreational sports event that people of all ages can enjoy. Comprising various categories, it is expected to provide great enjoyment to amateur sports enthusiasts.


County Governor Yoon Kyung-hee stated, “As the autumn leaves beautifully change color, we will make every effort to safely and thoroughly host nationwide and provincial-level sports competitions.” She added, “We will continue to attract various sports events to widely promote Cheongsong’s agricultural specialties and tourist resources, contributing to the revitalization of the local economy and the increase of residents’ income.”
