Bucheon Animation Festival Kicks Off Tomorrow... Opening Film 'Yeonui Pyeonji'

34 Films from 34 Countries Screened in Bucheon Area

The Bucheon International Animation Festival (BIAF), which introduces various animated films from around the world, will take place over five days starting from the 25th. Out of 2,835 entries from 106 countries, 122 works from 34 countries have been selected through a judging process. They can be seen at Bucheon City Hall, the Korea Manhwa Museum, CGV Bucheon, Bucheon Art Center, and the Webtoon Convergence Center until the 29th.

The opening ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. on the 25th at the screening room of the Korea Manhwa Museum. A large number of domestic and international master animation directors and guests will attend, including director Raoul Garcia, a character animator who worked on 'Beauty and the Beast' and 'Aladdin,' Professor Lee Won-bok, the cartoonist of 'Faraway Country, Neighboring Country,' and singer Solar, the promotional ambassador.


The opening film is 'Letter of Yeon' directed by Kim Yong-hwan. AKMU's (Akdong Musician) Lee Su-hyun participates as the voice of the main character 'Sori,' evoking cinematic imagination.


At 6 p.m. the next day, an OST concert of works by master director Makoto Shinkai will be held at Bucheon Art Center. On the same day at 7:30 p.m., the animation 'Love's Hatchuping' will be screened at the lawn plaza of Bucheon City Hall.


On the 27th and 28th, the 'Ani Presentation' contest for discovering animation talents will be held. A support program contest for the production of short and feature-length films to develop the domestic animation industry is also scheduled to take place around the event period.
