Goryeong-gun Hosts the 6th Goryeong World Hyun Festival

Main Performance on October 25

The 6th Goryeong World Hyun Festival, hosted by Goryeong County and Gyeongbuk Province and organized by the Goryeong Cultural Center, will be held from the 24th to the 26th at the Daegaya Cultural Nuri.

Goryeong County, the birthplace of the renowned master Ureuk, is a cultural and artistic city with a deep history of Ureuk and the Gayageum. To promote the excellence of the Gayageum and to solidify its image as the hometown of Ureuk and the Gayageum, the festival has been held six times since 2018.

On the first day, the 24th, at 11 a.m., a fringe stage for promoting the main performance will be held at the outdoor performance venue of Daegaya Market, and at 2 p.m., a forum on the theme of the World Hyun Festival will take place at the Gayageum Hall in Munhwa Nuri.

At 7 p.m. on the 25th, the main performance will begin at Ureuk Hall in Munhwa Nuri. Finally, at 11 a.m. on the 26th, a busking performance by five national string instrument clubs will be prepared at Daegaya Living Village.

County Governor Namcheol Lee said, “We hope many people will visit the 6th Goryeong World Hyun Festival, a world-class festival held in Goryeong, the hometown of the Gayageum,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to enhance the image of Goryeong, a city with a rich history, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the ancient capital of Daegaya.”
